Doctors Vinod and Tarlika Thakkar - Generous Friends of HLT By: Roy Riedy |
The Doctors Thakkar have been friends of Highlands Little Theatre since the 1980's when they established their medical practice in Sebring. Their association with HLT became visible in the April 1986 playbill for Arsenic and Old Lace when their names appeared on the notable roster of Lifetime Patrons.
The Thakkar name became a household word on October 4, 2002 when Chairman of the HLT Building Committee, Jim McCollum, announced that the doctors', "extremely generous" contribution for the proposed rehearsal hall had now made the building a reality and the new structure would be known as The Drs. Thakkar Pavilion. The Groundbreaking Ceremony took place on Sunday, December 1, 2002. Thirty-one months later, on April 23, 2005 the building was dedicated.
Highlands Little Theatre is deeply grateful to the Thakkars for their outstanding contribution to the Little Theatre and the Arts of Highlands County. The organization made this gratitude tangible by bestowing the title of Life Members on the Thakkars by unanimous vote of the General Membership at its June 2, 2005 meeting. Thank you doctors, the entire county is in your debt.
