A Sondheim musical based on Plautus took home the most awards while a musical based on a French movie and a drama based on a Best Seller tied for second place at the Twelfth Annual Zenon Awards Ceremony, October 4, 1997. Tammie Pollard's revival of the Broadway musical A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum accumulated 5 Zenons while Frank Oberhausen's La Cage aux folles and Melanie Boulay's To Kill a Mockingbird laid claim to 4 Zenons each.
