1999 Winners List

The Wizard of Oz and The Miracle Worker reign in this year's Zenon Awards Ceremony

A classic musical and a moving drama were the big winners at the Fourteenth Annual Zenon Awards Ceremony, October 2, 1999. Melanie Angus Boulay's wonderful Wizard of Oz marched away with 9 Zenons and Peter Pollard's moving Miracle Worker received 6.

The Wizard of Oz's 9 Zenons included:

• Best Actor: Frank Oberhausen as the Scarecrow
• Best Supporting Actor: Joe Willis as the Lion
• Best Scene Design: Doug Jones and Larry Wollangk
• Best Stage Manager: Jet Hansen
• Best Costume Design: Helen Curcio and Denise Miriani
• Best Producer: Margie Pollard
• Best Assistant Director/Special Effects: Thor Knutson
• Best Sound Technician and "Voice": Clell Ford
• Best Choreography: Jennifer Westergom

The Miracle Worker's 6 Zenons included:

• Best Play: Peter H. Pollard
• Best Actress: Tammie Pollard as Annie Sullivan
• Best Supporting Actress: Ashley Richardson as Helen Keller
• Best Director: Peter H. Pollard
• Best Lighting Design: John Lovelette and Frank Oberhausen
• Best Sound Design: Art Brand

Board Service Awards were presented to:

• Donald Crissman for theatrical electrical work
• Sue McCollum for work on the Scholarship Committee
• Frank Oberhausen for Gourmet and overall commitment to HLT
• Roy Riedy for work on the History of HLT

The 14th Janelou Buck Significant Achievement Award was presented to Emmie Hayes for her long and faithful service to Highlands Little Theatre.
