Man of La Mancha dominates the Eighteenth Zenon Ceremony; but Steel Magnolias wins Best Play
The big winner of the this year's Zenon awards was Dale Wasserman's musical based on Miguel Cervantes' Don Quixote, the Man of La Mancha. The Broadway winning show was directed by Frank C. Oberhausen and Kathy MacNeill and amassed an impressive ten Zenons, over half of this season's honors. Brigadoon, directed by the same award winning duo, Kathy MacNeill and Frank C. Oberhausen collected three more Zenons. John Harling's bittersweet comedy, Steel Magnolias, directed by Peter Pollard won two Zenons, including the season's treasured Best Play Award; and Director Allen Branch's The Hound of the Baskervilles won two awards as well.
Man of La Mancha's 10 Zenons included:The 18th Janelou Buck Significant Achievement Award was presented to Beth Norman for many years of major contributions to Highlands Little Theatre.
